Your Guide to Getting Outdoors in Kleinburg This Winter

There’s no need to hole up in your home this winter, especially when you live in Kleinburg. This small community just northwest of Vaughan is ideal for enjoying outdoor activities that the whole family will love. To help you relish the natural, rolling landscapes, we’ve made a guide to getting outdoors:

Visit The Village of Kleinburg

Kleinburg Village is a great place to enjoy some time outdoors this winter with family or friends. Take a stroll through the village and get takeout from some cute cafes like Balzac’s Coffee Roasters. What’s more, the trails surrounding Kleinburg Village offer unique hiking opportunities along the Humber River. The hills are a favourite for GTA cyclists. In fact, Kleinburg’s hills and colourful landscapes were the inspiration for many Group of 7 paintings.

Check out the Kortright Centre for Conservation

No matter what time of year it is, the Kortright Centre is one of the best spots for hiking and bird watching in the Greater Toronto Area. You can enjoy more than 16 kilometres of breathtaking hiking trails, explore forests and meadows, or follow the boardwalk through the marsh and take in the scenery and wildlife from various lookout points. The Kortright Centre for Conservation is open daily from 9:30am to 4pm, and you must purchase tickets in advance.

Go Tobogganing at Major Oaks Park

Why not have fun and get some exercise too? Tobogganing is a great way to get your heart pumping and have fun at any age. Plus, you won’t just get physical health benefits from sledding; you’ll also improve your mental health! Research shows that spending time outdoors (even in winter) lowers stress levels, depression, and anxiety. So bring back your inner child and hit the hills at Major Oaks Park, just 20 minutes away from Kleinburg.

Have Fun at the McMichael Canadian Art Gallery

The McMichael Canadian Art Gallery grounds and trails remain open and are perfect for hiking or cross country skiing. The paths are uniquely situated along the Carrying Place Trail, which historically provided an integral connection for Aboriginal people between Ontario’s Lakeshore and the Lake Simcoe-Georgian Bay Region. So you can connect with nature and history while enjoying some crisp winter air.

As you can see, Kleinburg provides so many fantastic opportunities for getting outside this winter! The natural landscapes and the fresh air offer the perfect backdrop to enjoy some quality time outdoors with the ones you love!
