The spirit of Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation is in the air! This year the country’s sesquicentennial brings with it an extra special festivities to mark the occasion. July 1st the rich fabric of Canada will be heard, seen and felt in Vaughan.

Black Creek Pioneer Village

 

Party like it’s 1867 at the Black Creek Pioneer Village! Step back to the time of Canada’s Confederation this Canada Day! Bring the kids back in time, interact with the animals, buildings and tools of early Canadian settlers. The family will enjoy experiencing the lifestyles, customs and surroundings of the area’s early residents. Take in the excitement of a 19th century carnival as performers juggle fire, attempt daring feats of strength and amaze you with unbelievable magic tricks. With musicians, theatrical performances and carnival games, this is an event not to be missed and will feature free admission for all on July 1st

Concerts in the Park Boyd Conservation Centre

 

The City of Vaughan will be celebrating Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation at its award-winning annual Canada Day event on Saturday, July 1, 2017, 12:00pm-10:00pm at Boyd Conservation Area located at 8739 Islington Avenue in Vaughan. This fun-filled event features FREE admission, activities and entertainment for the whole family including live performances on our headline stage, midway rides & inflatables, face painting, arts and crafts, a food zone, business zone, a laser show. The Canada 150 Activity Pavilion will feature community performances arts, crafts & interactive activities such as inflatable bouncing castles, mechanical rides, and even a bike valet to park your bike and receive a $5 food voucher. Snaps pictures at the photo booth to have a lasting memory of your 150th. Starting at 12 an array of ,musical acts will take the stage from Dominic Mancuso, to headliner Coleman Hell closing the show from 8:45-10pm.

Canada’s Wonderland

 

Enjoy live music with tunes from the East coast to the West coast at Canada’s Wonderland. Take in a lumberjack show with international renowned daredevils, with such shows as long rolling tree climbing, axe throwing, and chainsaw carving. A grand fireworks display at 10 pm will feature unique design with an original sound track and over 6,000 colourful explosions, that everyone in Toronto and the GTA will be talking about.Canada’ 150 anniversary  isn’t complete without celebrating delicious canada fare like poutine, nanaimo bars, and maple syrup and more!

If you’re willing to make the trek farther, the 32nd Strawberry Festival in Stouffville this year features a jam-packed Canada Day weekend of events, activities and vendors. It’s York Region’s second largest event, attracting an average of 25,000 people each year. The Strawberry Festival is free and offers something for everyone – a street market featuring over 200 artisans and vendors, an array of delectable foods, live entertainment, outdoor performances, bouncy castles, carnival rides and more! The York-Durham Heritage Railway will also be taking part in the annual Strawberry Festival by operating special Strawberry Festival Trains.
